Vincere Vel Mori

—Conquer  or Die—

Vincere Vel Mori was one of our first games after highschool.  It was bloody, confusing and ultimately incorrectly played.
We used the rules we had used in our first attempt at diplomacy and so this game was particularly ruthless.

Variant (or misinterpretation of rules):

                    1.      Attacking support can be provided from units adjacent to the victim and the attacking force

                    2.      Units are amphibious (or highly capable engineers ready to build a boat at a moments notice and spring into action)

                    3.      No convoys.  Why convoy when you can build a boat in 15 seconds flat?

Map Quirks:

                    1.      Varied empires—your traditional Germany Italy Austria wasn’t welcome in this game. Instead we had Spain, Sardinia,
Scandinavia, Bavaria, Netherlands, Great Britain and the Pan Slavic Confederation.

                    2.      Island Fever—with Iceland and Sardinia both being playable territories sea battle become much more important and
these launch pads made it that much more interesting.

                    3.      The power of paint—cartographers may find it interesting that we opted to simply use ms paint (xp when it was a
useful program) to edit (sub and meta game-play).  Not exceedingly difficult considering the simplicity of the map but
it makes some adjudicators somewhat squeamish to work under such duress.
